The play is composed of twenty-one acts in five parts. It tells the story of a secret love affair between Zhang Sheng, a young scholar, and Cui Yingying, the daughter of a chief minister of the Tang court. The two first meet in a Buddhist monastery. Yingying and her mother have stopped there to rest while escorting the coffin of Yingying's father to their native town. Zhang Sheng falls in love with her immediately, but is prevented from expressing his feelings while Yingying is under her mother's watchful eye. The most he can do is express his love in a poem read aloud behind the wall of the courtyard in which Yingying is lodging.[2]

However, word of Yingying's beauty soon reaches Sun the Flying Tiger, a local bandit. He dispatches ruffians to surround the monastery, in the hopes of taking her as his consort. Yingying's mother agrees that whoever drives the bandits away can have Yingying's hand in marriage, so Zhang Sheng contacts his childhood friend General Du, who is stationed not far away. The general subdues the bandits, and it seems that Zhang Sheng and Cui Yingying are set to be married. However, Yingying's mother begins to regret her rash promise to Zhang Sheng, and takes back her word, with the excuse that Yingying is already betrothed to the son of another high official of the court. The two young lovers are greatly disappointed, and begin to pine away with their unfulfilled love. Fortunately, Yingying's maid, Hong Niang, takes pity on them, and ingeniously arranges to bring them together in a secret union. When Yingying's mother discovers what her daughter has done, she reluctantly consents to a formal marriage on one condition: Zhang must travel to the capital and pass the civil service examination. To the joy of the young lovers, Zhang Sheng proves to be a brilliant scholar, and is appointed to high office. The story thus ends on a happy note, as the two are finally married.[2]

Wu Tung has become infatuated with a woman named Hsiao-yen, but a pair of Buddhist nuns refuse to allow him to have her and she is burned at the stake for her brief dalliance with the demon. Wu Tung is understandably furious and takes his wrath out upon the village; in order to appease him, each month a virgin is chosen to be the demon's consort for the next four weeks. When Yu-ying (May Law) is chosen to sacrifice herself to Wu Tung, she objects, as she's fallen in love with Shan-kan (Lui Siu Yip), a local fisherman, but her father, a village leader, forces her to obey Wu Tung's wishes. Wu Tung discovers that the soul of Hsiao-yen has found a new vehicle in Yu-ying, making him all the more drawn to her, while Yu-ying is only more repulsed by Wu Tung, and is determined to keep him at bay -- even if it means losing her virtue in the process. Amy Yip, star of the original Erotic Ghost Story, makes a cameo appearance as a nun.

Erotic Ghost Story revolves around three fairies (played by Yip, Man and Kudô) who have attained human form. Upon helping a hapless scholar, the trio begin to have lustful thoughts about him. This soon leads to many erotic romps and the eventual discovery that he is a dangerous demon.

Erotic Ghost Story was a breakthrough film for Amy Yip, who went on to have a career starring in similarly sexy roles such as Sex and Zen, garnering a cult following of fans in the process. The film was also followed by three sequels which were unrelated in plot. Erotic Ghost Story II is particularly notable for featuring Anthony Wong Chau Sang in an early role.

The soon-to-be Monk Talkative does his best to understand when Fairy Yeh explains what must be done. Rabbit spirits have escaped from the heavenly garden, and must be recaptured. These bunnies can assume human female form, and gorgeous forms at that. One is played by Pang Dan, who happens to be the soon-to-be Monk Talkative's wife. Talkative finds the explanation hard to follow (as do we the audience) but decides to help. Meanwhile, another rabbit spirit escapes, is rescued from hunters by scholar Yu-shu, who takes the rabbit home. While Yu-shu sleeps (with the rabbit in his bed !), the rabbit turns into the luscious Siu Mui (Keung Ka Ling), who makes love with him while he somehow manages to remain asleep. Yu-shu awakes next morning to find he is no longer a virgin, and also that a lovely young woman is calling him hubby. Perhaps in shock, or fearing that his blind mother might wonder, he tries to convince her to leave. Pang Dan's character also does the "Virgin Stance" with another bunny, played by Wong Nei. Lots of confusion and daftness follows, as the forces of heaven (the bad guys, lead by the evil Queen Of Heaven) pursue the bunnies, with concealed identities and misunderstandings all over the place.

In an effort to cash in off of HK’s past successes, Wong Jing has given us another chapter in the Sex and Zen series. This time out there are more girls, more positions, and more sex scenes. While all of that is sure to grab the core audience of the series, what’s lacking is the sheer over-the-top wackiness of the first, and the darker, anime-influenced sickness of the second. This feels like a standard C3 flick, meaning skin, sex, and sloppy production values.
The plot follows new prostitutes Susan (Karen Yeung), Fanny (Tung Yi), and Chinyun (Chung Chun), who are inducted into the Fragrance House brothel where they are trained in the ways of lovemaking by their veteran madam Tall Kau. Eventually all three enter circulation where Susan is crowned the top prize and becomes enamored of budding scholar Chu Chi-Ang. Fanny is jealous beyond all means and though she’s bought by famous horse trader Sir Lui (Category 3 staple Tsui Kam-Kong), she still plans her revenge on Susan. Eventually the typical “torture the innocent naked girl for cheap thrills” stuff happens, while Chu learns various wacky sexual positions to get Susan back. Of course, all of this has to be seen to be believed, but it would be easier if the film were in any way inspired. The first two went over the top to transcend their sleazy genres - and succeeded. This one just goes about its business in a typical and uninteresting manner. (Kozo 1998)

With Hsu Chi playing the beautiful daughter-in-law, who is blame him for not caring?

The story is about a constantly horny scholar (played by Lawrence Ng) who dared to challenge the moral teachings of the Sack Monk. The monk had tried to lecture the scholar that spiritual enlightenment transcended the passions of the flesh but the scholar, who enjoys women, naturally doesn't agree. However, the most powerful man in the town marries his daughter, played by Amy Yip, to the Scholar. The daughter is a virgin and has been taught that sex is dirty.

The scholar, after a disastrous yet humorous wedding night, soon initiates his bride into the pleasures of sex, aided greatly by the illustrations of a copy of said sex manual that he owns. But soon, the amorous husband goes about his 'scholastic travels' where he meets the greatest thief known to man. The thief is able to sneak into people's houses undetected, and the scholar wants to learn this skill so that he can sleep with other men's wives. The thief was initially willing to help him, until he catches the scholar one day and discovers that the scholar is not very well-endowed.

The thief tells the scholar that stealing other men's wives requires both good lovemaking skills and equipment. The thief promises to help the scholar only if he has a horse's penis. Of course, the thief didn't think it was possible, until the scholar returned one day, indeed, with a horse's penis attached as his own. Apparently, the scholar met a doctor who was able to replace anatomical parts (a scene with a cameo by Hong Kong funnyman Kent Cheng).

The doctor managed to transplant a horse's penis to replace the scholar's meager one. Armed with his new 20-inch weapon, the scholar goes on a sexual rampage, not caring if he is seducing other men's wives, or is nearly caught in the process. Meanwhile, the scholar's wife, after experiencing the joys of sex, is getting really horny and lonely. She tried masturbating with paintbrushes but is left unsatisfied until she has an affair with the gardener, the husband of one of the wives the scholar seduced. She becomes pregnant and runs away with the man, who persuades her to have an abortion. She soon finds solace in a brothel where she perfects her sexual skills to become the top courtesan.

Meanwhile, the scholar husband, starts to contract an AIDS-like frailty due to too much sex (involving 2 sisters-in-law who are bisexual and into S&M). He goes to the brothel for treatment, where he is offered the top courtesan. At first, both husband and wife cannot recognize each other; she looked at his penis and thought it couldn't be her husband's because his was small; he couldn't recognize her because his eyesight was failing. While they were having sex, he took a close look at her figure and nipple and recognized her. To her dismay, he screamed and shouted and called her a disgrace. To his dismay, she went off and hanged herself. The man, completely broken, went back to the monk to ask for forgiveness.
